Morley Park is still not open
The Council signed off the works on 7 September 2017 by issuing a Completion certificate to Berkley Homes (BH) who were obliged to transfer the park to the Council within 28 days of the Completion Certificate being issued. This has still not happened with further work to be done before transfer to the Council, namely eradication of the Japanese Knotweed, possibly by the Council negotiating a 10-15 year contract for its eradication, requirements for boundary and other works to be completed plus unresolved differences on the extent of public access to the park.
The Friends of Morley Park (FOMP) was set up in August 2017 by a group of residents who have campaigned tirelessly to ensure the prompt transfer and opening of the park consistent with the terms of the planning consent. Morley Park like all parks will benefit from having a Friends group to work with the Council and their maintenance contractor to improve and promote it. When FOMP was set up in August 2017 the park was expected to open by early September 2017, but, because of time taken to transfer the park to the Council it still isn't open.
You are invited to join FOMP with interim membership and attend meetings. Full membership and an annual subscription will only begin once the park is opened. For further information on FOMP, the history of Morley Park, and to join click here.
